This Summit focused on the theme of next-generation wearable devices such as for sweat and breath analysis and their translation into clinical implementation. As wearable technology continues to evolve, the potential to revolutionize healthcare with more precise and accessible biomarker data has never been greater. This event gathered leading researchers, patients/public, industry experts, and healthcare professionals to explore the cutting edge of digital health technology. Participants at ETH Zürich on site and remotely, discussed cutting-edge advancements in wearable health technologies, their translation, and clinical implementation.
The morning featured insightful workshops led by Prof. Dr. Jörg Goldhahn and experts on how to set up innovative clinical trials in this field, including:
• Steven (Steve) Bourke on patient and public involvement
• Dr. Dietmar Schaffarczyk (ETH Zurich - Digital Trial Innovation Platform (dTIP)) on setting up an investigator brochure for device testing
• Dr. Lindsay Kehoe (Duke University, USA) on developing digital trials
• Dr. Christine Horejs (Nature Reviews Bioengineering) on the journey from publication to clinical outcomes
The afternoon - led by Dr. Noé Brasier - delved into groundbreaking findings on wearable sensors with a selection of handpicked interdisciplinary talks focusing on biomedical engineering, translational, and clinical testing/implementation.
